Junior Professor Dr. Michael Bucksteeg is Junior Professor of Business Administration, in particular Energy Economics, at the FernUniversität in Hagen. His research interests include the design of energy markets and policy instruments, decisions under uncertainty and behavioral economic phenomena in the context of the energy transition. He uses methods of operations research, stochastic modeling and consumer research. Most recently, he has worked on the further development of flow-based market coupling, the quantification and modeling of the solar rebound effect and the role of present bias in the context of renewable energy support instruments. Previously, he was a PhD student and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He worked as a regulatory expert at the transmission system operator Amprion and studied energy and finance at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen.
