In the analysis “Gas supply outlook in the EU in the gas year 2023/2024”, a balance of gas availability and consumption is presented for four possible scenarios, thereby examining the gas supply situation for the EU and the UK over the next twelve months.
The reduction in demand and the expansion of LNG imports have contributed to an almost complete filling of gas storage facilities at the start of the winter of 2023/2024. The supply situation for natural gas appears to be secure in the event of a colder winter and in the absence of Russian gas supplies. However, a particularly cold winter with a simultaneous delivery failure by Russia could lead to a low fill level in the gas storage facilities, which could pose a challenge for refilling them for the following winter.
