The phase-out of coal and an increase in electricity demand require the construction of new power plants. The German government has announced a “Power Plant Strategy 2026” to stimulate the addition of 25 GW of power plant capacity by 2030. This expansion is to be divided among several power plant technologies. The funding instruments have yet to be defined by the German government.
