European countries have made progress in preparing their energy systems for the ramp-up of electromobility. This is shown by the “EWI EV Preparedness Index 2022”, which was surveyed for the second time. As in the previous year, Scandinavian countries top the index. They have many secure and renewable electricity sources.
Germany still has great potential for smart metering systems.
France and Austria have caught up particularly strongly. One of the main reasons for this is that both countries have improved the conditions for flexible charging. In Austria, for example, the proportion of households with smart metering systems has more than doubled compared to the previous year. The report also examines the effects of the 2022 energy crisis on the basis for calculating the index.
